Grundkenntnisse in empirischen Forschungsmethoden gehören zu den Schlüsselqualifikationen, über die nicht nur die wissenschaftlich arbeitenden Erziehungswissenschaftler verfügen sollten. Auch in den Praxisfeldern sind Kenntnisse in Forschungsmethoden unverzichtbar. Einerseits sind sie notwendige Voraussetzung für das kompetente Lesen und Auswerten von Tabellen und statistischem Material, andererseits bilden sie die Basis für die Durchführung eigener Untersuchungen. Ziel der Veranstaltung ist es, diese Kompetenzen zu vermitteln. Als Orientierung dienen die einzelnen Schritten des Forschungsprozesses.
Wir werden uns mit den folgenden Fragen auseinandersetzen: Über welche Probleme will eine Studie Auskunft geben? Welche Hypothesen wurden bei der Durchführung der Studie formuliert? Wie wurden wo welche Daten erhoben? Was versteht man unter Datenauswertung? Was sagen uns die Ergebnisse statistischer Berechnungen?
Im Zentrum dieser Veranstaltung stehen quantifizierende Verfahren der empirischen Sozialforschung.
