Das Projektmodul stellt eine Einführung in die aktuellen Forschungsprojekte unserer Abteilung dar. Thematisch beschäftigen wir uns mit einer der größten Leistungen in der Evolution komplexer Organismen, nämlich mit dem Übergang von der Einzelligkeit zur Vielzelligkeit mit einer Arbeitsteilung zwischen verschiedenen Zelltypen. Die niederen Pflanzen der Ordnung Volvocales (Grünalgen) eröffnen die einzigartige Gelegenheit, den Ursprung der Vielzelligkeit innerhalb einer nahe verwandten Gruppe heute lebender Arten zu untersuchen. Studierende lernen die zugehörigen wissenschaftlichen Fragestellungen kennen und erarbeiten verschiedene Methoden aus den Bereichen der Zell- und Molekularbiologie sowie der Biochemie. Die Studierenden sollen dabei an die selbstständige Laborarbeit herangeführt werden. Das Modul ist daher insbesondere für Studierende gedacht, die eine Abschlussarbeit in diesem Bereich planen.
