250092 Introduction to International Studies in Educational Science (S) (SoSe 2012)

Contents, comment

The seminar is an introductory course to international studies in Educational Science. A short overview over central definitions and terms in international and comparative education will be examined and in relation to their historical background discussed and systemized.
Furthermore special topics in international studies in educational science will be integral part of the seminar. Special topics -always related to internationalisation in education- can be for example:
- (new) media literacies in educational science,
- international social work,
- education in different (european) countries,
- early childhood education,
- higher education
- cosmopolitan identities as a result of international education,
etc.
General information: the seminar language is english and a good opportunity for students to broaden their knowledge in english academic language. For this reason the general interest in reading english texts and the willing to discuss in english is necessary.

Die Studienleistung bzw. aktive Teilnahme wird über die regelmäßige Teilnahme am Seminar, sowie der aktiven Mitarbeit (s.o.) erworben. Es wird die Mitarbeit an der Gestalung einer Seminarsitzung (z. B. ca. 15minütige Kurzpräsentation oder Leitung einer Kurzdiskussion, etc.) erwartet. Die genauen Anforderungen für die Vergabe der Studienleistung bzw. aktiven Teilnahme werden in der ersten Sitzung bekannt gegeben.
