In Form eines kleines Forschungsprojekts können die Studierenden an aktueller Forschung im Bereich der Kognitiven Neurobiologie mitwirken. Die Grundthematik der Projekte liegt im Bereich der kognitiven Leistungen denen primär Verarbeitung im Präfrontalen Kortex und im Hippokampus des Gehirns zu Grunde liegen. Projekte können reine Verhaltensstudien mit Nagern (Maus, Ratte) in automatisierten Verhaltensmessapparaturen sein, oder können immunhistochemische Methoden an Gehirnschnitten mit beinhalten. In einem Projektbereich werden die Grundlagen von Verhaltensoptimierung bei der Nahrungssuche an südamerikanischen, blütenbesuchenden Fledermäusen mit Hilfe künstlicher und computer-automatisierter Blütenfelder untersucht.
