Reportergene sind künstliche Gene aus einem Promotor und dem kodierten Bereich des Fremdgens, das eine einfach nachzuweisende Reaktion katalysiert. Sie werden seit etlichen Jahren in der bakteriellen Molekularbiologie eingesetzt und finden zunehmend in der pflanzlichen und tierischen Molekularbiologie Einzug. Sie sind bedeutende Hilfsmittel, um das Schaltverhalten von ausgewählten Promotoren im lebenden Organismus verfolgen zu können. Sie liefern zeitlich und räumlich aufgelöste Informationen über die Promotoraktivität. Im Semiblock soll an einem Beispiel die Reaktivität eines Promotors auf Umweltveränderungen untersucht werden. Die geplanten Versuche stehen in engem Zusammenhang mit der gegenwärtigen Forschung. Obwohl mit pflanzlichen Objekten gearbeitet wird, richtet sich die Thematik an alle molekularbiologisch/genetisch interessierten StudentInnen. Die entsprechende Theorie wird im Block besprochen, allerdings sind Grundkenntnisse in Molekularbiologie/Genetik wünschenswert. Die Teilnahme an der Vorlesung "Molekularbiologie der Pflanzen" wird empfohlen
