300143 Governance and Comparison (Research Class/Forschungswerkstatt BGHS) (S) (SoSe 2014)

Contents, comment

The class is aimed at providing PhD-students the opportunity to present
and discuss their studies in-depth. The subjects of the class are the
modes of coordination, the political processes, and the outcomes of
governance in general. Hence, students who work on this issue are
welcome. The purpose of the class is to put the respective governance
phenomena in comparative perspective in order to improve both, the
descriptive quality of the studies as well as their analytical depth.
The schedule of the research and the topics to be discussed are to be
plannend in tight cooperation with the participants. However, the first
sessions are presumably dedicated to the presentation of research
projects which focus on state-market coordination in international
comparison. It can also be taken for granted that comparative research
on the diffusion of social standards and human right will have its place.
