Der Begriff "Öffentliche Kommunikation" bezeichnet Kommunikationsprozesse und -strukturen, die öffentlich stattfinden und häufig - aber nicht zwingend - durch Massenmedien vermittelt sind. Nach einer Einführung in Grundbegriffe der Medienwissenschaft, die für die Betrachtung der öffentlichen Kommunikation unerlässlich sind, sowie der Auseinandersetzung mit einigen wichtigen medienwissenschaftlichen Theorien werden typische aktuelle mediale Ereignisse aus den drei Bereichen Printmedien, Fernsehen und Internet betrachtet und analysiert. Ziel des Seminars ist es, sowohl eine fundierte theoretische Basis für die Beschäftigung mit öffentlicher Kommunikation zu schaffen als auch anschauliche Beispielanalysen vorzuführen bzw. gemeinsam zu erarbeiten. Der Schwerpunkt liegt dabei auf linguistischer (nicht medienwissenschaftlicher) Analyse im weitesten Sinne.

Die Teilnahme an dem Kurs "Einführung in die Kommunikationsanalyse" wird für den Kurs voorausgesetzt.
