230016 Alter und Demenz: Neurobiologische Grundlagen (S) (SoSe 2024)

Wie verändern sich für kommunikative und sprachliche Leistungen relevante Gehirnstrukturen im Alter? Bestimmte Aspekte der Neuroplastizität spielen in diesem Zusammenhang eine wesentliche Rolle und werden in Hinblick auf Lernprozesse bewertet. Im Mittelpunkt der Veranstaltung stehen insbesondere die neurobiologischen Veränderungen bei gesunden älteren Menschen sowie Patienten mit Demenz, wobei vor allem Augenmerk auf die Alzheimer-Demenz gelegt wird, die mit 60-70 % die häufigste Form der demenziellen Erkrankungen darstellt. Nach den neurokognitiven Grundlagen werden auch vorbeugende und therapeutische Maßnahmen angesprochen. Aufgrund bestimmter Stoffwechseleigenschaften des Gehirns bieten langfristige und regelmäßige Vorbeugungsmaßnahmen sowie das Lernen in der Jugend und auch beim Erwachsenen einen gewissen Schutz vor dementiellen Erkrankungen.
