Das Seminar gibt einen Überblick über die Entwicklung von Konzeptionen mehrkulturellen Zusammenlebens und deren praktischen Auswirkungen in verschiedenen gesellschaftlichen Feldern. Die drei Begriffe der Multikulturalität, Interkulturalität und Transkulturalität spiegeln dabei aufeinanderfolgende zeitgeschichtliche Phasen wider, die im Seminar transparent gemacht werden. Dabei werden auch einzelne Themen wie der Multikultidiskurs und die interkulturelle Öffnung von z.B. Schule und Verwaltung angesprochen.
