Das Seminar ist interdisziplinär und praxisorientiert gestaltet (Zusammenarbeit mit dem Verein "Segelschiff Thor Heyerdahl"). Im Zentrum stehen die Fragen, wie der Kontext "Segelschiff" als pädagogisches Medium genutzt werden kann und welche Konstrukte bzw. Prozesse dabei relevant sind. Die erarbeiteten Inhalte sollen während einer Exkursion auf dem Dreimastschoner "Thor Heyerdahl" voraussichtlich Oktober 2008 praktisch umgesetzt werden. "Bedient" wird das Schiff übrigens nicht von bezahlten Matrosen, sondern von ehrenamtlicher Stammcrew, die bei diesem Törn zum großen Teil aus Seminarabsolventen früherer Semester bestehen wird - der Segeltörn bietet den Teilnehmern auch hier einen Einstieg.
