Die Centering Theory (Grosz, Joshi, and Weinstein, 1995) bietet einen theoretischen Rahmen für die Modellierung von Diskurskoheränz. Sie beschäftigt sich hier spezifisch mit anaphorischen Ausdrücken, und postuliert, dass manche Entitäten, die in einem Diskurs erwähnt werden, zentraler sind als andere, und dass dies die Wahl der auf sie verweisenden anaphorischen Ausdrücke beschränkt und beeinflusst.

In diesem Seminar werden wir uns zuerst die Theorie selbst anschauen, so wie sie ursprünglich entwickelt wurde, und uns dann kritischen Evaluationen, Fallstudien und psycholinguistischen Experimenten im Rahmen dieser Theorie zuwenden.
