In der Vorlesung sollen Grundkenntnisse über die computergestützte Erzeugung und Manipulation von Klängen vermittelt werden. Zunächst werden verschiedene Repräsentationen von Klängen motiviert, wobei der Betrachtung im Frequenzbereich eine zentrale Rolle zukommt. In der Folge werden zahlreiche Klangbearbeitungs- und -erzeugungsverfahren (z.B. subtraktive, additive, granulare, nichtlineare Synthese, Frequenzmodulation, Phasenvocoder etc.) vorgestellt und mit entsprechenden Audiobeispielen garniert. Zuletzt soll ein Ausblick auf die Verwendung von Syntheseverfahren in Auditiven Displays zur Exploration abstrakter Datenräume gegeben werden.
Die Vorlesung wendet sich insbesondere auch an Studierende des Studiengangs Mediengestaltung.
