392213 Parallele Algorithmen und Rechnerarchitekturen in der Bioinformatik (S) (SoSe 2012)

Contents, comment

Die Themen des Seminars lassen sich in mehrere Bereiche unterteilen:

  • Parallele Rechnerarchitekturen
  • Parallele Algorithmen: Grundlagen
  • Parallele Algorithmen: Anwendungen

Im Bereich Rechnerarchitekturen passen z.B. sehr gut folgende Themen:

  • Grundlegende Paradigmen: Message Passing, Shared-Memory, SIMD, ...
  • GPU-Computing
  • Job-Verteilungssysteme: Grids, Clouds ...
  • Transactional Memory
  • Cluster-Dateisysteme
  • ...

Algorithmen:

  • map-and-reduce
  • Parallelisierung von Standardalgorithmen und Datenstrukturen
  • Grenzen der Parallelisierung (Amdahl's Law ...)
  • Anwendung diverser APIs: OpenCL, OpenMP, MPI, POSIX Threads ...
  • ...
