In dem Seminar erarbeiten wir uns einen Überblick über das, was in der deutschsprachigen Literaturgeschichte als ‚Klassik‘ firmiert. Die Seminarlektüre und -diskussion umfasst aktuelle literaturwissenschaftliche Begriffsbestimmungen, poetologische Texte und kunstästhetische Programme des späteren 18. Jahrhunderts, literarische Texte der ‚Weimarer Klassik‘ (v.a. Drama, Lyrik) und andere Kunstgattungen der Klassik/des Klassizismus (v.a. Architektur, Skulptur) und führt schließlich zur Frage nach dem Mythos ‚Klassik‘.

Ziel ist es, gemeinsam literaturwissenschaftlich fundiertes Wissen über die Klassik um 1800 zu entwickeln, mit dem Sie sich künftig weitere Texte und Kenntnisse selbstständig erschließen können.

Dass dieser Überblick beispielhaft entlang ausgewählter Protagonisten (wie Goethe, Moritz, Schadow, Schiller, Schinkel) erfolgen und damit nur Ausschnitte repräsentieren wird, versteht sich angesichts dieses reichhaltigen, vielseitigen Fundus fast von selbst.

Die Teilnahme setzt die Bereitschaft zur vorbereitenden Lektüre (bzw. gründlichen Relektüre vermeintlich bekannter Texte) und zur regelmäßigen wie aktiven Beteiligung voraus. Das Seminar findet vor Ort in Präsenz statt.
