300632 Migrations und Asylpolitik in Australien: von der Kolonisierung zum Offshore processing (30-M25) (S) (SoSe 2024)

Nach Ansicht vieler europäischer PolitikerInnen gilt das australische Migrationssystem als erfolgreiches Vorbild und daher auch als nachahmenswert. Dieser Kurs beleuchtet einige Meilensteile der australischen Migrations- und Asylpolitik kritisch und stellt auch die Nor-mentwicklung in anderen Teilen des globalen Nordens auf den Prüfstand. Zu Beginn des Seminars stehen historische Entwicklungen im Vordergrund, die spezifisch für Australien sind (z. B. die White Australia Policy). Durch die Untersuchung politischer Schlüsselereignis-se in Australien (z. B. Tampa-Affäre, Pacific Solution I und II) werden die KursteilnehmerIn-nen mit kritischen Ansätzen zur Theorie und Praxis der Migrationssteuerung vertraut ge-macht. Danach werden sich die unsere Diskussionen in die umfassenderen Debatten über Zwangsmigration, Souveränität, Nationalismus, Versicherheitlichung/Militarisierung, Exter-nalisierung von Grenzkontrollen, Abschreckungsmaßnahmen, u.a. einbringen. Vor allem im Hinblick auf Humanitarismus, Flüchtlingsschutz und die Einhaltung der Menschenrechte be-trifft, nehmen wir auch die unmittelbaren Auswirkungen der australischen Asyl- und Migra-tionspolitik auf die weitere Asien-Pazifik- Region mit in den Blick. Ziel des Kurses ist es die Grundlage für vergleichende Ansätze, zum Bsp. mit gegenwärtigen Trend sin der europäi-schen Asyl- und Migrationspolitik zu schaffen.
