220116 Nicht nur die Atombombe: der Cultural Cold War in den 1940er- 1980er (S) (SoSe 2024)

In der Zeit des Kalten Krieges wurde Kulturdiplomatie neben dem militärischen Wettkampf zu einem wichtigen Instrument. Lehrer_innen Ärzt_innen, Tänzer_innen, Sportler_inenn, Schauspieler_inen und Musiker_innen waren in diesen Kampf verwickelt, um die Leistungen ihrer Regierungen zu präsentieren und Verbündete weltweit zu gewinnen. Als Akteure der Weltpolitik erhielten diese Menschen die Möglichkeit, Karrieren zu machen, berufliche Kontakte weltweit zu knüpfen und zu reisen. In diesem Seminar werden wir Texte aus einem der lebendigsten Bereiche der heutigen Geschichtsschreibung lesen, um herauszufinden, wie undurchlässig der Eiserne Vorhang war, wie sich die internationalen Beziehungen nach dem Krieg entwickelten und wie sich dies auf den Zusammenbruch des Sowjetblocks im Kalten Krieg auswirkte.
