Ovids mythologisches Epos bietet Geschichten über unerfüllte Liebe, erzwungene Liebe, Haß, Neid, Bestrafungen ... Götter interagieren mit anderen göttlichen Wesen, Menschen interagieren untereinander oder werden in die göttliche Welt hineingezogen. Der rote Faden ist der der Verwandlung, der Metamorphose.
Doch ist dieser Faden oft nur vorheschoben, um etwas ganz Anderes zu erzählen? Warum werden die Götter häufig so unvorteilhaft dargestellt? Wie paßt das Epos in seine Zeit?
Mit diesen Fragen sowie der Rezeption über die Jahrhunderte wollen wir uns in diesem Seminar beschäftigen.
