Die einsemestrige Lehrforschung ist eine angewandte Einführung in die Analyse von Paneldaten am Beispiel des Sozio-oekonomischen Panels (SOEP). Das SOEP ist eine längsschnittliche Haushaltsbefragung, in der seit 1984 jährlich Informationen zur sozialen Lage von Haushalten in Deutschland erhoben werden (https://www.diw.de/soep). Inhalte der Befragung aller Haushaltsmitglieder sind u.a. Bildung, Beruf, Einkommen, sozialer Teilhabe, Gesundheit oder Persönlichkeit.
Ziele der Veranstaltung sind die Vermittlung von Fähigkeiten des Umgangs mit komplexen Daten (z.B. das Zusammenführen unterschiedlicher Befragungen in einen integrierten Längsschnittdatensatz) sowie der Durchführung längsschnittlicher Datenanalysen. Dazu gehört neben der deskriptiven Untersuchung zeitlicher Veränderungen (z.B. Einkommensmobilität, Einstellungsänderung) insbesondere die Umsetzung von Regressionsmodellen in Paneldaten.
In Plenarsitzungen werden u.a. Vor- und Nachteile von Längsschnittstudien als Forschungsdesign diskutiert oder auch exemplarischer Längsschnittanalysen des SOEP im Bereich Soziologie dargestellt. In Kleingruppen sollen eigene Forschungsfragen entwickelt und auf Basis von Paneldaten umgesetzt werden. Als Statistik-Software kommt Stata zum Einsatz. Erwünscht sind Stata-Kenntnisse.
