230041 Research Projects and Research Paradigms in British Studies (S) (WiSe 2013/2014)

Contents, comment

This seminar, which is also open to advanced BA students as well as doctoral students, is directed mainly at MA students who are currently writing or intending to write a thesis in British literary and/or cultural studies. The meetings will be held in workshop style, with students presenting their projects and getting feedback on their ideas and results. In connection with these presentations, we will discuss how to plan and organize a research project, how to write research papers, and how to overcome the obstacles that typically occur in the process of doing scholarly research. Whenever no presentation from any of the participants has been scheduled, we will discuss approaches to the field of i.e. cognitive literary studies. The subtitle of this course is therefore: "The Brain and the Book". Materials on this topic will be made available at the beginning of the term.
