The closest sociological focus on the pragmatics of talk and interaction today is offered by conversation analysis. Most of the people doing conversation analysis, however, have only little interest in theory building, and stick mainly to identifying specific patterns in our ways of talking. There are good reasons for this type of self-constraint. Here, however, the attempt is made to trespass on this restriction and look for more general theoretical explanations and mechanisms that possibly could generate at least some of the patterns in question. This will be done by recourse to the tool box of game theory. The intersection between pragmatics and game theory is not very densely populated, but the number of ideas will suffice to keep us busy for a semester and there is a seductive prospect of future research.

The binding module descriptions contain further information, including specifications on the "types of assignments" students need to complete. In cases where a module description mentions more than one kind of assignment, the respective member of the teaching staff will decide which task(s) they assign the students.
You can aim for a Studienleistung by giving a presentation about some of the assigned literature and go for a Prüfungsleistung by writing a term paper.
