392164 Projekt "Mixed Reality Locomotion Platform" (PjS) (SoSe 2019)

Contents, comment

Research on motion planning and perception in human locomotion requires the control of various stimuli in a dynamic setting. In the Interactive Locomotion Lab of CITEC, we let participants walk or run along a virtual cross-country track while recording their movements through motion capture. A visual virtual environment surrounds a linear treadmill that can be rotated simulate arbitrary inclines.

Project Objectives
- Design an experiment to measure human kinematics in different locomotion conditions
- Possible research questions include:
-- Implementation and comparison of different control paradigms of the treadmill
-- Comparative evaluation of head-mounted and screen-based VR
-- Time-efficient rendering of large scale virtual worlds
- Create appropriate landscapes in Unity with appropriate control of experimental variables
- Design, implement and execute a participant study
- Evaluate experimental data

The binding module descriptions contain further information, including specifications on the "types of assignments" students need to complete. In cases where a module description mentions more than one kind of assignment, the respective member of the teaching staff will decide which task(s) they assign the students.
