In der Veranstaltung wird in theoretische und empirische Ansätze der Migrationssoziologie eingeführt. Dabei werden sowohl klassische Migrationstheorien als auch Zugänge zu aktuellen Migrationsphänomenen behandelt. Im Mittelpunkt steht die Auseinandersetzung mit den Begriffen Migration, Integration und Transnationalisierung. Zunächst werden soziologische Erklärungsansätze zu Mobilität und Migration vorgestellt und in Theorien internationaler Migration eingeführt. Anschließend werden zum einen Konzepte zu Assimilation und Integration und zum anderen Transnationalisierungsansätze diskutiert.
