Lyrische Rede ist in spezieller Weise zeitgebunden und stellt Zeitlichkeit aus: Sie kann Zeit nicht nur thematisieren, wie etwa das mittelalterliche Tagelied den Tagesanfang als Ende der Nacht und damit den Zeitpunkt der Trennung der Liebenden, sondern geht auch in formaler und performativer Hinsicht mit Zeit um. Das Motiv des Alter(n)s in Minnesang und Spruchdichtung eignet sich für eine Beschäftigung mit den komplexen temporalen Verhältnissen der Texte in besonderem Maße. Denn hier besteht eine Spannung zwischen der ‚biographischen‘ Eigenzeit der Sprechinstanz (‚Zeit des Ich‘) zur kulturhistorisch konnotierten Zeit (‚Zeit der Anderen‘), die text- und kontextabhängig je neue Konstellationen von Ich-Inszenierung hervorbringt. Diese werden wir auf der Basis tradierter Alterstopik analysieren, wobei es gerade um die vielfältigen Funktionalisierungen der bekannten Alterstopoi gehen soll: Was leisten diese im jeweiligen Zusammenhang? Während die ältere Forschung hier Fragen von Werkchronologie und Dichterbiographie verhandelte, interessieren uns Aspekte des Poetologischen (Altersrollen, ‚Eigenzeit‘ der Minne, Minnesang als toposbasierte Kombinationskunst), des Religiösen (Zeit und Ewigkeit), und der vormodernen ‚Subjektivität‘. Beschäftigen werden wir uns u.a. mit Texten Walthers von der Vogelweide (sog. Alters- und Weltabsage-Lieder), Reinmars und Heinrichs von Morungen.
