Diese zweisemesterige Veranstaltung entwickelt ein Forschungsprojekt, das seinen thematischen Ausgangspunkt in der Exzellenzinitiative der Bundesregierung im Hochschulbereich nimmt. Die Untersuchung umfasst die politische Diskussion über wissenschaftliche Exzellenz und Eliten ebenso wie die Förderentscheidungen der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft im Winter 2006 /07 und ihre Folgen für das deutsche Hochschulsystem.
