Charles Darwin’s book On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection appeared 1859. It has triggered deep and lasting changes in our thinking about biology and society, and ist reception has led to major controversies. In the course we will read Darwin’s work and will relate it to events of his time in science, economics, and society at large.
