Contents, comment

In this class we will be looking at how sound is produced - here students will a guide to pronunciation. Yet, our focus will lie on two of the main accents of English (General American and RP (EE)) and some of their differences in pronunciation and phonotactics. Also we will look at such areas as morphophonemics and intonation. Throughout the course we will be doing a lot of transcription work.

Requirements for participation, required level

I expect students taking this class to have completed Introduction to Linguistics and How to Make a Dictionary successfully. This is not a class for first semester students.
