Die Einführung in das Mittelniederdeutsche erfolgt über einen Zeitraum von zwei Semestern. In einem Blockseminar zu Ende des Wintersemesters 2012/13 werden die Grundlagen vermittelt; eine Vertiefung erfolgt dann im Sommersemester 2012 (14täglich).
Das Mittelniederdeutsche ist die Sprache des deutschen Nordens und wurde nördlich der sog. Benrather Linie (maken/machen) vom 12. bis ins 16. Jahrhundert gesprochen und geschrieben. Es wurde abgelöst vom Neuniederdeutschen (Platt), das in der Regel im Norden die gesprochene Muttersprache blieb, auch wenn in der Verwaltung und in den Schulen bereits Mitte des 16. Jahrhunderts das Hochdeutsche als Schriftsprache Einzug hielt.

Voraussetzung ist die Teilnahme am Blockseminar Einführung in das Mittelniederdeutsche (Teil 1) im Wintersemester 2012/13, das hier 14täglich fortgesetzt wird.

Passiv-Kenntnisse der niederdeutschen Mundart (Platt) sind von Vorteil, aber nicht erforderlich. Ebensogut können Vorkenntnisse aus "Geschichte der deutschen Sprache" oder einer Einführung in das Mittelhochdeutsche nutzbringend eingebracht werden.
