In dem Seminar liegt der Fokus auf der Novelle Die Schwarze Spinne von Jeremias Gotthelf, so wie deren Adaptionen in Film (Die Schwarze Spinne von Markus Fischer, 2022) und Videospiel (Mundaun von Hidden Fields, 2021). Zudem wird ein Blick auf die weitere literarische Landschaft der deutschsprachigen Schauer- und Horrorliteratur geworfen.
Methodischer Schwerpunkt in dem Seminar ist die Analyse der Schwarzen Spinne und ihrer Adaptionen durch die Linse der Intermedialität. Komplementär dazu wird die weitere deutsche Schauer- und Horrorliteratur mit Methoden aus den computational literary studies untersucht.
