In the first part of the course we will introduce concepts and terms related to the complex nexus between climate change and migration. We will discuss academic and policy debates about the question if migration is an adaptation strategy in the context of climate change or an expression of failed adaptation. We will also get to know some empirical case studies. In the second part of the course, students will chose one question of interest to them and develop their own small and individual research projects. In the third part of the course, the individual research projects will be presented.
This seminar will be taught completely in English. Students should be willing to prepare the classes by reading the indicated literature, to actively participate in the discussions during the sessions and to eleborate their own short research project.
