Emotions play an important role in daily interaction and communication. Thus, for information processing systems - "intelligent agents" – it is crucial to model one’s affective state. Humans express emotions not only verbal but also by non-verbal affective signals like facial expression, intonation or gaze behavior. Based on these signals a system may adapt and react to the user’s state and thereby allow smooth human-computer interaction. In this seminar, you will explore all kind of affective signals and dive into methods to analyze, process and interpret them automatically. Based on different use cases (e.g., automatic detection of stress based on voice characteristics), you will learn how to build and evaluate systems capable of interpreting human affective signals.
