Die Entwicklung von zentralen Ideen der Mathematikdidaktik wird im Zusammenhang mit der allgemeinen schulischen und gesellschaftlichen Entwicklung dargestellt. Wie haben sich Grundvorstellungen (z.B. in der Geometrie) und Unterrichtsprinzipien (Anschaulichkeit, Selbsttätigkeit, ...) verändert? Neben einem Überblick wird zu gemeinsam abgestimmten Themen intensiver gearbeitet.
Möglicher Zeitrahmen: Von Adam Riese bis zur Aufklärung. Pestalozzi und seine Anhänger. Mathematikunterricht in der Humboldtschen Bildungsreform. Reformansätze in der zweiten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts. Mathematikunterricht als reformpädagogischer Arbeitsunterricht. Mathematikunterricht im Nationalsozialismus. Von den fünfziger Jahren bis PISA.
