Es soll dargestellt werden, wie die bekannten Genominformationen verschiedener Spezies verwendet werden können, um die Funktion von Genen für Entwicklungs- und Krankheitsprozesse zu analysieren. Anhand von bekannten Beispielen wird deutlich gemacht, wie die parallele Verarbeitung der Genominformation in neue Dimensionen der medizinischen Forschung vorstößt. Intensiv soll auch diskutiert werden, welche Aussagekraft verschiedene Modellorganismen wie Nematoden, Drosophila, Zebrafisch und Maus in der biomedizinischen Grundlagenforschung besitzen.
