In diesem Seminar sollen die historischen und geographischen, z. T. auch soziologischen Grundlagen von Freizeit und Reisen vorgestellt und erörtert werden. Im Einzelnen sind die folgenden Themen vorgesehen:
1. Reisen und Reiseziele in historischer Betrachtung
2. Die Entwicklung der Verkehrsmittel in ihrer Bedeutung für das Reisen
3. Reisemotive - Reiseintensität - Reiseaktivitäten
4. Die Entwicklung des Seebäder- und Alpentourismus
5. Das touristische Angebot und die Standorte des Tourismus
6. Folgen des modernen Reisens (ökonomisch, ökologisch, sozial)
7. Vom sanften Reisen zur "nachhaltigen Entwicklung"
8. Tourismus in die Länder der Dritten Welt
9. Vom protestantisch-asketischen Arbeitsideal zur moderen Erlebnisgesellschaft
10. Neuere Entwicklungen in Freizeit und Reisen
