Die Vorlesung behandelt molekulargenetische Grundlagen der pflanzlichen Entwicklung mit dem Schwerpunkt der Zelldifferenzierung und Zellmusterbildung bei der Entwicklung der Organe und Gewebe. Darüber hinaus werden z.B. Mechanismen der Gametogenese und Embryogenese ebenso wie die pflanzliche Seneszenz und die pathologische Morphogenese vorgestellt. Als ein weiterer thematischer Aspekt werden aktuelle Forschungsergebnisse der funktionellen Genomanalyse der pflanzlichen Entwicklung z.B. unter Einsatz von Arabidopsis-Mutanten sowie Transkriptom- und Proteomstudien behandelt.
