In der Veranstaltung werden grundlegende Fragen des wissenschaftlichen Arbeitens (was ist das eigentlich, "wissenschaftliches Arbeiten"?) behandelt. Grundlegende Formen wissenschaftliche Arbeitens gehen auf alltägliche Praktiken der symbolischen Auseinandersetzung mit der Welt zurück, insbesondere Lesen, Schreiben und Sprechen. Wodurch zeichnet sich wissenschaftliches Lesen, Schreiben und Sprechen aus? Dies erkunden wir auch mit Hilfe der Bearbeitung von bereits publizierten erziehungswissenschaftlichen Texten.

Ein zentrales Element des Seminars ist die Unterstützung bei der Erstellung einer erziehungswissenschaftlichen Hausarbeit. Dabei werden folgende Aspekte bearbeitet: Themenfindung und -eingrenzung, Entwicklung einer Fragestellung, Literaturrecherche, Aufbau und Struktur einer Hausarbeit sowie die Berücksichtigung formaler Gestaltungsmittel.
