In this seminar, you will be introduced to the foundations of Migration Studies. In a practical sense, the seminar covers such topics as the actual flows and trends of migration and remit-tances, demography and historical developments, theories of migration, different types of mi-grants and generational issues. This foundation will lay the groundwork for the second part of this seminar, which highlights the focus, approach and challenges of migration research in different academic disciplines, ranging from anthropology, economics, geography, political science to sociology.
