220111 Von Angelsachsen, Dänen, Normannen und Engländern: Ein Quellen-Streifzug durch das englische Mittelalter (S) (WiSe 2013/2014)

Die Geschichte Englands im Mittelalter reicht dem allgemeinen Verständnis nach von der so genannten angelsächsischen Eroberung bis zur Thronbesteigung des ersten Tudors. Anhand verschiedenartiger Quellen sollen in dieser Veranstaltung vor allem zwei Dinge erarbeitet werden:

1. Das Verständnis verschiedener Quellengattungen und der richtige wissenschaftliche Umgang mit ihnen.

2. Ein Überblick über die Geschichte Englands im Mittelalter. Ein Schwerpunkt soll dabei auf der angelsächsischen Periode liegen.

Requirements for participation, required level

Die Quellen werden so gut wie ausschließlich in englischer Sprache gelesen, daher sind sehr gute Englischkenntnisse unverzichtbar.
