Theories of Modern Society
This course explores sociological perspectives on modern society. It is designed to introduce students to central issues and debates in contemporary sociological theory. Focusing on modern systems theory, it will compare, contrast and critically assess a range of different theories, including their applicability to the analysis of particular features of modernity.
