The course will study the processes of Korean American identity formation and development through a close study of key Korean American texts and their recurring themes and motifs. The seminar will have a transnational focus that explores how events in Asia and America interact with each other and contribute to the construction of group identity. It will also examine the difficulties of creating and maintaining a separate individual identity within a minority ethnic group.
