In dieser Veranstaltung werden am Beispiel der wichtigsten Pflanzenfamilien der Angiospermen (Mono- und Dicotylen) die Grundprinzipien der Systematik, Taxonomie und Nomenklatur behandelt. Das Bestimmen anhand eines sog. dichotomen Schlüssels wird geübt. Die Veranstaltung findet im 14-tägigen Wechsel mit kleinen Exkursionen statt. Als unentbehrliche Hilfsmittel müssen Bestimmungsbuch und Klapplupe (8-10x) bereits zum ersten Kurs mitgebracht werden.
