Fragestellungen der Metaphysik und Ästhetik werden im Seminar mit solchen der politischen Philosophie verknüpft. Alberti, Filarete, aber auch Bacon, Morus und Campanella mit ihren stadtarchitektonischen Metaphern sollen unter Rückgriff auf Vitruv textuell im Mittelpunkt stehen. Ein äußerer Anlass zu diesem Thema findet sich in der Ausstellung zu dem bekanntesten Architekten, Gartenbau- und Perspektivtheoretiker der sog. nördlichen Renaissance, Hans Vredemann de Vries, die im Sommer (Ende Mai bis Ende August) im Weserrenaissancemuseum Schloß Brake in Lemgo zu sehen sein wird, bevor sie nach Antwerpen geht. Eine Exkursion mit den Seminarteilnehmern zur Ausstellung ist geplant.
