Contents of the subject Physics

Research strength
The degree programme offers access to a wide range of current research projects that are being worked on in various working groups at the faculty. Students have the opportunity to actively participate in these projects and pursue their own research questions as part of their Bachelor's or Master's thesis.

Individual supervision
The faculty is characterised by an excellent supervision ratio. With small tutorial groups of usually a maximum of 20 participants, students are provided with intensive personal support. This encourages individual dialogue and support with study issues.

Practical orientation
The degree programme integrates practical elements through special introductory modules and internships that optimally prepare students for the demands of the teaching profession. The practical orientation is strengthened by close cooperation with schools and other educational institutions.

International perspectives
Students benefit from opportunities to gain international experience. The faculty promotes exchange and cooperation with international partners, which strengthens students' intercultural skills and prepares them for a global working environment.

Career opportunities
Graduates of the degree programme have excellent career prospects. Thanks to the comprehensive training in physics and didactics, they are well prepared for the various requirements in the teaching profession and in research, which increases their competitiveness on the labour market.
There are particularly good job prospects in primary schools, secondary schools, comprehensive schools, and elementary schools, as well as in integrated special education. There is also a high demand for teachers in STEM subjects (with the exception of biology). Nevertheless, it is important to keep in mind that you will be teaching this material for a long time. You should therefore be interested in what you teach and study subjects that you are passionate about.Considering the age of the students in the respective school types is also helpful when making this decision.

Access to the Bachelor programme is granted to those who have a university entrance qualification suitable for Germany (e. g. German ‘Abitur’).
