The seminar aims to explore various historiographical approaches to the history of chemistry. Topics include the goals of the history of science, attempts to produce ‘general’ overviews, and reflections in exemplary cases. In addition to textual analysis, the course features components of active research and subsequent discussion. Chemical knowledge is not required.
