Description:
In this guided self-study course, we begin with setting a task, which is
then worked on autonomously or by assistance of the lecturer. Topics are
algorithms (original, advanced or related) from the Phylogenetics
lecture (Winter semester).
We will use the Rosalind free learning platform (http://rosalind.info).
Each week, a new problem is introduced including the problem definition,
the correct input and output format, and then implemented. In some
cases, parts of the respective solution will be provided to ensure that
a fully functional code can be obtained in appropriate time.
This course naturally is coupled by the seminar, "Practical Seminar of
Phylogenetics Algorithms", as the students can extend their knowledge in
algorithms for phylogenetics in both theoretical and practical view.
Skills to learn:
a) Understand algorithms by implementing them
b) Increase your experience in development of "clean" code
Prerequisites:
Basic or advanced knowledge of Python or Java
