Sensible Daten stellen Forscher vor eine große Herausforderung. Auf der einen Seite steht das Interesse, bestimmte Verhaltensweisen hinsichtlich ihrer Ursachen zu verstehen und erklären zu können, auf der anderen Seite bilden sowohl rechtliche Restriktionen wie auch verzerrende Effekte in der Erfassung personenbezogener Daten methodische Herausforderungen.
Am Beispiel der Jugenddelinquenz sollen Möglichkeiten der Erfassung von sensiblen Daten besprochen werden. Hierbei wird zwischen sogenannten Hell- und Dunkelfelddaten sowie verschiedenen Möglichkeiten der Messung unterschieden. In einem zweiten Teil der Veranstaltung soll insbesondere auf die methodischen Einschränkungen und mögliche Lösungen eingegangen werden. Hierbei stehen die Schiefe der Daten und systematische bzw. unsystematische Ausfälle die im Zusammenhang mit der Messung sozial unerwünschter Verhaltensweisen, im Mittelpunkt.
