Who gives a presentation (and for how long) in each meeting will be determined as follows:
If you...
1. Haven't handed in your registration to the examination office: no presentation, just come and see what the other students are doing.
2. Have handed your registration, in first 5 months of the thesis: 10 minute presentation describing the problem setting and how you plan to solve it or an update if you have already given a 10 minute presentation before.
3. In the final month or have handed in: 20 minute presentation describing the problem and your current results. (once you give a 20 minute presentation you are done)
Please consider discussing your presentation with your advisor before giving it so that they can provide feedback!
Some general advice for giving good presentations:
1. PRACTICE your presentation! At least once, better twice, even better thrice.
2. Pictures say more than words. (But pictures without words can be confusing!) Large blocks of text are boring and useless for everyone.
3. A basic structure of your presentation should be: Background & Motivation, Problem (w/ highly relevant related work), Your contribution, Experimental/Theoretical results.
4. Stay on time. Estimate about 1-2 minutes per slide.
