Luis de Góngoras Soledades gehört zu den umstrittensten und einflussreichsten Werken der spanischsprachigen Literaturgeschichte. Das Seminar nimmt sich eine detailierte Lektüre dieses als schwierig geltenden Textes vor. Grundlegende Verfahren zum Verständnis lyrischer Texte sollen erprobt werden. Neben Untersuchungen zur Metrik, zu rhetorischen Stilmitteln, zu Motiven und Gattungseigenschaften sollen auch der kulturgeschichtliche Kontext des frühen 17. Jahrhunderts und die wechselhafte Rezeptionsgeschichte der Soledades beleuchtet werden.
Kenntnisse des Spanischen sind von Vorteil. Neben der spanischen Fassung wird eine englische Übersetzung als Arbeitsgrundlage bereitgestellt.
