220010 Städte in Europa und Lateinamerika vom Mittelalter bis in die Moderne (GK II) (SoSe 2023)

In Städten verdichten sich nahezu alle Aspekte menschlichen Zusammenlebens. Der Grundkurs nähert sich Städten in einer epochenübergreifenden Perspektive vom Mittelalter bis in die Moderne und einem räumlichen Vergleich zwischen Europa und Lateinamerika. Dies ermöglicht eine historisch dichte Beschreibung von Kontinuität und Wandel von Phänomenen wie Gesellschaftsstruktur und sozialer Segregation, Herrschaft und kultureller Repräsentation, Krieg und Verteidigung, Infrastruktur und Wissensproduktion, Wirtschaft, Planung und Umwelt. Im Zentrum der zweisemestrigen Veranstaltung stehen die für die Städtegeschichte relevanten Schriftquellen, bildlichen Darstellungen und nichttextlichen Hinterlassenschaften, aber auch ihre vielfältigen Interpretationen durch die Geschichtswissenschaft.
