300116 Massenmedien in der Systemtheorie (S) (WiSe 2014/2015)

Contents, comment

Die Systemtheorie, wie sie vor allem von Niklas Luhmann entwickelt wurde, bricht mit vielen Begrifflichkeiten und Überzeugungen soziologischen Denkens. Dies trifft auch auf die Überlegungen Luhmanns zu den modernen elektronischen Medien wie Fernsehen, Radio oder Zeitungen zu. Zum einen werden diese vom Image einer abzulehnenden, da zwangsläufig auf die Gesellschaft nur restriktiv einwirkenden Einrichtung befreit; zum anderen wird ihnen – wie den technischen Verbreitungsmedien insgesamt – ein systematischer Platz in der Theorie der Gesellschaft eingeräumt. Im Seminar sollen die Gründe für diese „Kehrtwende“ in der soziologischen Behandlung der Massenmedien erarbeitet werden.
