Das Seminar untersucht aus einer kommunikationstheoretischen Perspektive die gegenwärtige Digitalisierung der Wissenschaft. Hierzu werden zunächst zentrale Grundlagen einer kommunikationstheoretischen Beschreibung der Wissenschaft vermittelt, um auf dieser Basis einen Blick auf die medialen Bedingungen der Ausdifferenzierung der modernen Wissenschaft, insbesondere den Buchdruck, zu werfen. Sodann beschäftigt sich das Seminar mit der Sozial- und Ideengeschichte heutiger digitaler Technologien, um vor diesem Hintergrund aktuelle Diagnosen der Digitalisierung wissenschaftlicher Kommunikation zu diskutieren.
